Southern Living

Well we finally made it to Florida! It took us six days, but we made it! I was so excited when we pulled up to the house, I could have jumped out before the car parked if it weren't for the two carseats holding me in.

When we opened the door and stepped into the house for the first time, I was overwhelmed. There were so many boxes and the place was a mess! At first glance it seemed pretty clean, but then we got into it and it wasn't so clean. Wes vacuumed our master bedroom probably a good 4 times and got BLACK water from our vacuum. YUCK...Then there was the mold. I'm super sensitive to smells and I knew the house had a funky smell, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. It almost smelled stale and like a cat had been living there at the same time. My husband attacked the bathroom with bleach and I'm pretty positive he killed anything within a five foot radius.

I knew there was a mold problem because Wes is severely allergic to mold and I have asthma and am very sensitive to things like that. He was having problems breathing, his eyes were irritated and he was itchy all over. Then once I started to clean I noticed I was getting very itchy and irritated too.

We thought we got most if not all of it, but then by accident I noticed while cleaning that there was mold in between the blinds! I was disgusted and of course freaked out. My main concern was the boys. They're so young and vulnerable that I worry about their health more than anything. I was so paranoid that I called our landlord and told him I wanted someone to look at it. (We also bought DIY tests at Home Depot haha). Anyways my landlord asked if he could have a relator friend of his come and look and I said sure that's fine. But in my head I'm thinking, "What in the heck is a realtor going to do? All he does is sell homes." He gave us a number of a mold inspector and of course I called him. I wanted the whole house checked but my landlord only wants to pay for our bedroom and bathroom.

I told him fine, if our bedroom and bathroom come up with something harmful then that's when I'll demand to have the whole house checked. The mold guy was supposed to come today, but of course rescheduled on us. I'm just wanting this all figured out as soon as possible. The not knowing is what's killing me. It makes me paranoid having the babies in here. I've noticed that they sneeze more, have red eyes more often and cough more. It makes my mama senses all wacked out. Hopefully we get some answers soon. In the mean time, I try to keep the boys out in the living room or out and about.

Anyways! Besides the mold fiasco, everything else is going pretty well. We finally got the house unpacked and organized in just a week. I'm so proud of myself, I'm not even sure how I did it. I love the fact that this house is just one story. It makes cleaning so much easier!

It's so different actually living where there are restaurants and so many other places to go! In 29 Palms there was literally nothing surrounding us. But here, I could walk to Whataburger it's so close. I do love the area, it's so pretty down here with the water and greenery. It's hot and humid, but that's ok Wes and I actually like it....for now.

Here are some before pictures of the house!

Here are the after pictures!
