Bumpdate | 26 Weeks

Bumpdate | 26 Weeks

How Far Along?:  26 weeks! It's wild to think that we are only 2 weeks from the final trimester...it sure is going by fast.

Weight Gain: The last I checked I gained about 13 lbs. Sort of just depends on the day. I haven't changed much.

Gender?: BOY!

How Big is Baby?: He's the size of kale and is weighing in at 1.7 lbs and 14 inches long. He's getting his immune system ready for life on the outside by soaking up my antibodies. His eyes are forming, and will soon start to open, if they haven’t already.

He's reacting more and more to stimulus, including reacting to bright lights, the sound of our voices (which he may now be able to recognize) and to pokes and prods through my belly.

While he's still several weeks away from taking his first breath of air, his lungs are starting to produce surfactant, which is a substance that lets the air sacs in the lungs inflate. It also keeps the air sacs from collapsing and sticking together when they deflate.

Symptoms: I've been tired, had Braxton Hicks, gut issues, and not sleeping well.

Any Food Cravings?: Protein and smoothie bowls.

Sleep: Not great but I'm hoping to work on it. My goal is to go to bed around 11pm and get up around 7am every day. I hasn't been perfect but it's a good goal for me since I've been going to bed well after midnight lately. I don't sleep well when Wes is away.

Stretch Marks?: No new ones that I've noticed. But my old ones are just more pronounced.

Maternity Clothes?: Yes and no. I have a few basics like tanks and tees and some leggings, but can still wear some of my normal clothes too like my dresses. I really haven't bought much this pregnancy. I still feel pretty small.

Wedding Ring On or Off?: On!

What Do You Miss the Most?: Being comfortable and my gut being fully normal.

What Are You Most Excited For This Next Week?: I can't wait to see my midwife next week and check on little man!

Labor Signs?: Nope!

Favorite Memory From Last Week?: Spending Valentine's Day with the kiddos, but we sure did miss Wes.
