I saw something like this on one of my favorite blogs and thought it would be fun to do! Instead of focusing on babies, I'm going to take a second here to recognize this mama after labor and delivery. So here it goes.
How Far Along? Well, by some miracle we made it to 38 weeks and 1 day. After our little scare at 29 weeks, we never thought we would make it that far. I was totally prepared for them to come early, we even had our hospital bags packed and a plan ready to go by 30 weeks. Well, we never needed it thank God! I had an induction scheduled but turns out I really didn't need it. I wasn't given any Pitocin and my water broke naturally at the hospital. We were so lucky! I never imagined how much my life would change, but now I can't even imagine leaving or doing anything without these sweet babies.
Size of Babies? At birth Liam was 5 lbs 11oz and 19.5 in long. He looked so small and perfect. But, then came Bentley at 5 lbs 8oz and 19 in long. If I thought Liam was small, I was in for a surprise. I was praying that they wouldn't need any NICU time and thankfully they didn't! We were so blessed. Although, they did have some temperature, glucose and weight gain problems at first. It all leveled out by the time we left the hospital. At their lowest weights Bentley was 4 lbs 13oz and Liam was 4 lbs 15oz. Thank goodness for preemie clothes!
Maternity Clothes? Finally out of them, except for this one pair of maternity shorts. I'm definitely not back to my pre pregnancy body so jeans, or really anything tight, are not working out haha. I just did some spring cleaning in my closet and decided to pack my maternity clothes away. My clothes are slowly starting to fit like they used to! Woo!
Weight Loss? The last time I weighed myself I was down to 147 lbs! I've officially lost 33 pounds since I delivered the boys. I was over 180 lbs when I had them (which to me was frightening since I've never been that big in my life!) Then I remind myself, I was growing two human beings. I lost weight pretty quickly after having the boys, but now I've just plateaued. I hope I wont have trouble losing the rest of the weight. Although I don't want to lose it too fast, I have a gross amount of loose skin. I'm not complaining though, I got two beautiful boys from it all!
Breastfeeding? Feels like its all I do! Everyday. All day. But to be truthful, I'm so blessed and lucky that I have a supply that can nourish two babies. I'm not sore like I was in the beginning and I've pretty much got it down to a science. The boys are great feeders, although I still have to use the nipple shield. I wish I didn't have to, but they're still having a little trouble latching. They're slowly getting better without the shield, and I'm trying to wean them off of having to use it. They're also getting more on a schedule with eating. They eat every 2-3 hours and feed for about 30 minutes at a time. When I can't or don't have the time, I heat up some breastmilk and bottle feed about 2 ounces a feeding. I'm thinking about uping the amount because they seem to be hungry still after bottle feeds.
Sleep? Hardly getting any at all. But, thankfully the boys are getting on a more predictable sleep schedule, which means I get to sleep a little more! My husband, bless his heart, doesn't wake up when they cry. I practically have to scream his name and throw something at him in order to get him up. Must be nice to sleep that much haha. It's ok though I really am getting used to it. I'm just excited for when this mama and daddy get to have a few good hours of shut eye in a row!
Food Cravings? For some reason things that are cold and fruit! So of course, I've been making my fruit bowls like crazy lately. But hey, at least it's healthy!
What I Miss? I never thought I'd really miss being pregnant, but I do miss feeling them kick inside me. But, I will say I do NOT miss being swollen, uncomfortable and in pain. I forgot what it was like to feel normal. Even though I'm not quite all there yet. I can't believe I'm going to admit this, but I also miss my little baby bump before I was massive.
Symptoms? I'm hungry ALL THE TIME! I think that's mostly from breastfeeding. I have these random hot flashes too! Other than that I feel pretty normal. I do have pain with recovery and stitches still, but I feel like it could be much worse. I'm slowly but surely going back to my normal self!
Belly Button? Right now it's doing this weird half in and half out thing haha. But it is going back down to normal slowly.
Best Moment of the Week? How can I pick just one?! I would have to say that the boys getting on a more regular schedule is definitely on the top of my list. Also the fact that Bentley is now rolling from his stomach to his back. I can't believe he is actually doing that already!
Here are a few pics of my progress so far:
left is four weeks postpartum and right is one week postpartum.
